Meeting was called to order at 9:03 a.m.

Minutes from October and November were reviewed and approved.

Incident Review
-
Tiffany Perry reported on incidents occurring since October 6 to present with a total of 13 injuries with 8 claims and 2 reports only.

Missy Brunetta reported no new claims reported to Risk Management. Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) is investigating a chemical burn incident in the residential community hot tubs.

Safety in focus for December was the Stevenson Hall tour held on November 17, 2022.

Standing Reports

Karl Mortensen from Sonoma State University Police Department reported a summary of crimes for the month of November, which included various crimes found on the Crime Log. SSUPD also shared their winter activities including a winter clothing drive and participation in Toys for Tots programs. SSUPD is collecting supplies at the Police Department until December 9, 2022.

Brunetta reported that Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) is engaging with Facilities Management to review the Hot Work program to designate hot work areas. EHS is also updating the Personal Protective Equipment program and Roof Permit program for the end of 2022 year.

Dana Twedell notified the group that all safety-related work orders are completed or in-progress by Facilities Management. Twedell also provided an update for Facilities Management and an update on the projects happening on campus including the 12KV project, and the microgrid project. All projects are progressing as planned. Construction on the microgrid project is set to begin in Summer of 2023. The EOC renovation project is set to complete in January 2023, also.

Brunetta also provided an update on Emergency Services, notifying the group that SSU will participate in the Sonoma County shakeout drill in early spring for earthquake preparedness.

Ben Ellis shared that Student Activities around drug and alcohol awareness occurred in the semester. Student Affairs is planning activities for the spring semester.

Calee Spinney shared an update from the CARE Team that the semester has been busier than normal with estimated 248 student support cases. Spinney also reminded the group that a CARE report should be completed to help any students who may need additional support and it allows the CARE team to start the process of engaging with the student.

Dennis Goss from CSUEU shared that some custodial shift times will be changing in the coming weeks to allow for more coverage for operational needs of the University.

Kendall Newman shared that the SafeSSU committee met and are working on a campaign for the 2022-2023 academic year.

Kelley Green from Teamsters had no updates.

No APC rep present.

In new business, Michael Eynon shared information regarding the increase of concussions being reported to DSS, and reminded the group that DSS is available to help provide temporary or permanent accommodations to students who may need it.

Brunetta also requested to move the January 5 meeting to January 12 to accommodate for vacation time for the committee and the committee acquiesced.
