Minutes

 

  1. Meeting was called to order at 9:02 a.m. 

  2. Review of minutes from the previous month were approved with changes at 9:04 a.m.

  3. Incident Review 

    1. Erin Taylor reported on behalf of Payroll and Benefits that there have been a few additional claims coming in. Payroll and Benefits reminded the group that timely reporting of all injuries and incidents must occur. 

    2. Tyson Hill reported nothing pending for Risk Management and Environmental Health and Safety related to incidents. 

  4. Standing Reports

    1. Karl Mortenson from the Sonoma State Police Department reported statistics from the Daily Crime Log which included a DUI arrest, bugarlies, and a mental health crisis. 

    2. Tyson Hill reported that Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) released the annual Asbestos Awareness notification to the campus. EHS is further working with Contracts and Procurement and Facilities Management on the process for notifying service providers and vendors about the presence of asbestos in campus buildings. 

    3. Thomas Sargent shared Title 8, 340.1 that reserves the rights of employees for representation to be present during exposure investigations. 

    4. Tyson Hill also shared that EHS is working on obtaining new contracts for hazardous material removal service contracts to ensure timely compliant removal for the campus. 

    5. Dana Twedell shared that Facilities Management (FM) has scheduled an exterior lighting campus walk on November 10, 2022 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. FM has had some delays in lighting upgrades due to equipment delays, but they are on the right track now. No updates since last meeting on the projects on campus. 

      1. Kudos were shared to the FM team from Karl Mortenson for the team who dropped everything during a high windstorm to help fix and remedy fencing that posed a safety threat. 

    6. Ryan Jasen Henne from Student Affairs shared that there is about 1,500 students returned with another 500 planned to return in the dorms. REACH continues to work with the Student Health Center and the COVID Monitoring Team to support students through the COVID protocol process.

    7. Kendall Newman had no updates on SafeSSU. The committee meets in March for the next meeting.

    8. Dennis Goss from CSUEU inquired about the COVID-19 Dashboard on the COVID-19 website and how often it is updated. Kendall Newman shared it is updated Monday with data from the prior Friday. 

    9. Jordan Lundberg, Teamsters Safety Steward, had no updates.

    10. Vanessa Bascherini from APC had no updates. 

    11. Karl Mortenson on behalf of SUPA shared that a new union president was elected last year and the current contract for SUPA expires soon and they are heading to bargaining. 

    12. Newman shared an update on COVID-19 within the campus and local community. Tyson Hill shared that SSU is working on securing rapid tests for employees and students in order to help support those who may have already tested positive as they are unable to take a PCR test within 90 days of the original infection. Hill shared his gratitude to all those who support COVID efforts at SSU.
