Meeting was called to order at 9:02 a.m.

Review of minutes from the previous month were approved.

Incident Review
-
Tiffany Perry reported on an electrical burn incident that was referred to EHS for investigation. Two repetitive injuries were reported, along with 3 cuts. All incidents were reported on time, resulting in 100% compliance for the prior period.

Missy Brunetta reported that there were two open incident investigations. CSU learn is currently in the process of updating the electrical safety training program. The course will be available to the campus soon.

Standing Reports

Karl Mortensen from Sonoma State University Police Department reported a summary of crimes for the month of August, which included various crimes found on the Crime Log.

Brunetta reported that Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) is engaged in compliance activities and program management. In August, Zinfandel residents were notified of asbestos-containing materials present in the Residences, thanks to EHS.

Dana Twedell provided an update for Facilities Management and an update on the projects happening on campus including the 12KV project, and the microgrid project. All projects are progressing as planned. Construction on the microgrid project is set to begin in Summer of 2023. The EOC renovation project is set to complete in January 2023, also.

Ryan Henne shared that the annual drug free campus notice will be sent out to campus soon and the biennial report is due out in December.

Michael Eynon shared a concern about the western exit of parking lot J as a safety concern. Twedell noted that he would follow up with Transportation and Parking Services.

Kendall Newman shared that the SafeSSU committee met and are working on a campaign for the 2022-2023 academic year.

Dennis Goss from CSUEU had no update.

Jordan Lundberg had no updates.

Brunetta shared an update on COVID-19, which continues to be showing a slight surge of the current variant that shows symptoms, however, lower hospitalizations than prior variants.

Brunetta provided updates regarding emergency service planning and preparedness activities. Brunetta shared an update on the heat advisory coming up and provided resources for employees working outdoors, directing employees to the Injury and Illness Prevention Program.

Brunetta also provided a general overview of the emerging concerns related to Monkeypox.

In new business, Brunetta discussed changing the format of future meetings to include minor safety-related topic presentations that will bring awareness and knowledge to the committee. Brunetta shared the first presentation would be related to the fentanyl suspicion in the residential community and SSU’s response to the incident at the October meeting.
